Help Question about math time tests!!

Help we would like to know how you all do math facts. In Ripon we give time tests for addition, subtraction, and multiplication thru 5. Student's are given 100 problems to solve in 4 minutes. Do you do time tests?
How long do you expect each problem to take?
Any other ideas to foster automaticity for math facts?
Thanks for letting us know.

Keeping skills current

A "new" idea we took from Harry Wong on classroom management also helps keep the students' skills current. We type up or copy various addition, subtraction, in & out boxes, rounding ETC.. for the students to do as they come in the morning. This way we have a quick check on the students who need more mastery, and it controls the morning chaos.

Math sites for your kids

G'day everyone, here are a couple of neat math sites that parents can use with their children at home.
http://superkids.com/aweb/tools/math
www.aplusmath.com
www.coolmath.com/parents
Hope that you guys get to check them out. The students really seem to enjoy the practice, and the parents are quite happy for an alternative to flash cards etc!!
Kind regards,
Neil
